Still Messing With Photography

As usual, it seems, I'm still messing with my camera and testing things out with my favorite subject, the Oz-meister.

It seems that to negate the graininess caused by the white flecks in his fur, simple diffusion of the flash doesn't work very well (I tried a few different methods to make the flash on the camera more diffuse). What is more inconvenient is that it seems that the best way to reduce the graininess is to use a lot of light, natural and otherwise. My next attempts at improving my light setup for general photography will be to use some of the external flashes I tend to use with my SLR camera (non-digital), and then to pick up a Firefly Electronics flashgun slave (so I can use a separate flash situated in a different position and aimed in a different direction to get better overall lighting), which is similar to one I played around with for some cave photography I did awhile back (still haven't been able to scan those pictures, though).

Alas. Tips or suggestions for my flash/lighting problems and for my photos in general are always welcome. :) Enjoy.

Oz was a feral kitten (we found him when we estimate he was about 2-3 weeks old and was abandoned with about 7 other kittens). After the mess I had to clean up with him (fleas, mites, and a lot of other little problems), I decided he'd be a housecat. He loves to sit in the window and look outside. While I'm sure he doesn't remember his feral life, he does like to try to get the bugs on the screen and seeing birds and squirrels run by drives him bonkers. Guess it's those cat instincts. He's really good about playing with and killing any insects that come into the apartment, too (spiders in particular).

Hi Blogger, your blog is excellent. As I was surfing around today looking for detailed info on architectural photography I somehow ended up on your page. As your Still Messing With Photography is not exactly related to my search, I am certainly glad I
stopped by. Oh well, back to surfing and I am sure I will find what I am looking for, and should you ever need information about architectural photography, then stop by for a look. Thanks for the post.
